God loves to help families!

“They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.’ Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole family.” Acts 16:31-34.

God worked triple-time yesterday, as three people were baptized in Hilo Bay.

Joan’s two brothers, Richard and Michael, and Richard’s girlfriend, Kristallyn, were all baptized after church at the now-popular baptism spot, the beach near Queen Liliuokalani Gardens.

The word of the day was emotion.

The church was fired up as the festivities began with a huge crowd, which included members of Joan’s family, Kristallyn’s family and Kyle’s family. Everyone sang praises to God with joy. The atmosphere was electric as everyone showed exuberance knowing that three people had decided to follow the teachings of Jesus.

When Joan started sharing about her brothers and Krystallyn, and their new love for God, there was not a dry eye in the circle of onlookers. With each word and each tear, the true meaning of love for God and the effect of Jesus was being experienced by all.

The church had not experienced this kind of impact on families for a long time.

As most of the crowd stayed on shore, continually singing hymns, a mini-crowd made up of baptizers and “baptizees” waded into the water. Each person took their turn to get baptized.

This part of the even took such a while that those on shore started to run out of songs to sing!

The wait was worth it, as the three jumped and splashed in the water immediately after getting baptized. Everyone cheered on the trio and congratulated them with hugs, kisses, flower lei and words of encouragement. There was even more singing afterwards, as well as prayer and fellowship.

Last night, church members celebrated with a family dinner at the Bartholomews.

The only thing better than a baptism is a three-person baptism.

The awesome thing about three baptisms is that three people have come to God. And to God, that is triple-good!
