A man soars to a new spiritual height!

“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:30-31.

Queen Liliuokalani Gardens park was packed with people on Easter Sunday. All of those people were there most likely to have Easter picnics and Easter eggs hunts.

Or were they there to witness an awesome baptism?

Jeff was baptized into Christ this past Easter Sunday, just a short time after the Easter worship service in Kea‘au.

And just as Jesus rose from the dead about two thousand years ago, Jeff emerged from the waters of baptism to a new life with a new relationship with God.

Our minister, Kyle Bartholomew, met Jeff when he was still working as a cabinetmaker. Jeff accepted Kyle’s invitation to come to church and study the Bible.

Jeff took a lot of Kyle’s words from the Bible to heart. Sometimes in church service, you can hear Jeff call Kyle the “preachmaster.”

One of Jeff’s hobbies is flying various forms of air transportation.

“The Scripture [Isaiah 40:30-31] means a lot to me because of my experience in flying,” Jeff shared at his baptism. “I know what it feels like to soar like an eagle. It’s a great feeling. Like when you put your faith in God. That’s also a great feeling, like you’re flying high.”

Curious people at the park were able to see the church circle near Jeff to hear testimonials about God and praises in song to God.

The weather the whole day was perfect for remembering God. And for seeing someone getting baptized.

After Jeff was baptized, the circle sang some more, and prayed for God to continue to work in people’s lives and show his love for us.

Jeff was on cloud nine after his baptism. And he did not even need a flying apparatus to get there.

On Easter, people usually search for eggs or candy or prizes. Once they find them, they can celebrate Easter, and maybe remember what Easter is really about.

This past Easter, Jeff did find what he has been looking for. He found Jesus. And Jesus is really what Easter is about.
