The campus ministry continues to grow!

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:9-14 (NIV).

The campus women continued their momentum with the university ministry, as another campus woman was baptized yesterday.

On Sunday, Bridgette was baptized at Four-Mile Beach Park in Keaukaha.

Bridgette is a college student at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo.

She had been studying the Bible with Mel and Ashley, and started coming to church about a month ago.

Yesterday started out rainy, but by the time church service started, the sun showed why Hawai‘i Island has the best quick-change weather. The weather was clear and hot, firing everyone up for a baptism!

Ashley said to Bridgette at the baptism, “[1 Peter 1:3-9]. And I read this this morning, and I thought of you, and I just wanted to share that with you because you’re amazing.”

Mel invited Bridgette to study the Bible earlier this year. Mel shared, “It’s just so encouraging and faith-building for me when Jesus tells me this in the Bible [in Matthew 9:35-38], he’s talking to me, like ‘Go. Go pick my fruit.’ There are ripe fruit, and it’s just encouraging to have another picker in the harvest.”

Bridgette shared, “So now right after being baptized, I just want to be able to go out there and just live like Jesus wants me to live and bring more people into it.”

Everyone marvelled at how calm and glassy the water was. The women walked into the calm high-tide water, and Bridgette was baptized.

The church sang songs and prayed to close out the event.

The campus ministry is cranking out awesome disciples in the Lord! A few weeks ago, Ashley was baptized. A couple of weeks ago, Joseph was baptized. Just yesterday, Bridgette was baptized. At the moment, a number of campus students are studying the Bible.

This shows that there are college students out there who are not only studying for midterms, but are also studying the Bible for a higher calling for God.

God loves the university students!
