At a time when most people may be thinking of new year resolutions and turning over a new leaf, one man made the best change he could ever make heading into the new year.

Shane made the decision to devote his life to following God.

This past Sunday, Shane was baptized at Queen Lili‘uokalani Gardens.

He joins a cranking campus ministry at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. He’s the second man baptized by the campus ministry within the past week.

Actually, Shane has been with the campus ministry for the past few months, participating in their events and studying the Bible with them. Only recently did Shane come to realize exactly what he needed to do in order to get closer to God.

A bunch of the men in the church shared about how Shane has come a long way in following God and the Bible. They expressed how much Shane has meant in their lives.

Shane shared some Scripture with everyone. He also spoke about the path he has taken up to this point, and how God has been working in his life. He expressed his gratitude for how everyone in the church has impacted his life.

After Shane professed his faith and obedience to Jesus, Levi and Stefano led him into the cool water. Then the two baptized Shane with Jesus Christ.

Not a bad way to start off the new year.

Fireworks could be heard in the distance, as many people started celebrating New Year’s Day a couple of days early.

The church was having fireworks of its own, except instead of fire, our fireworks involved water.

But we were still “fired” up for Shane getting baptized, and getting God.
