Tonight Robbie delivered a lesson to the men in our church at our midweek service about our upcoming Special Contribution.

Robbie has been the one to stand in the gap lately, as our former lead minister Evan and his wife Kelly just moved to Honolulu, leaving us without a lead minister temporarily. He had just preached a sermon this past Sunday at church, and he spoke again tonight.

Jay and Angie will be moving here to Hilo in about a month to become our new leaders.

We will be taking up a Special Contribution in May, in addition to our church’s normal collections.

Some of our members have been saving since last year’s Special Contribution, while others have been working hard more recently to contribute to this cause. Some of our newer members are trying to do what they can in a short time to give to the Special Contribution.

Robbie gave the men good direction and advice on how to give attention to May’s Special Contribution. He also gave some good scriptures showing how people in the Bible sacrificed for a good cause.

One of the scriptures Robbie used was 2 Corinthians 8:2-3a: “Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability.”

After the lesson, the guys discussed ways to help each other to meet our personal goals for Special Contribution.

It was awesome to see the guys working together for a common purpose!
