Women’s Day 2016

This year our Women’s Day theme was Once Upon A Time, inspired by the well-known TV show that features fairy tale characters stuck in a modern day town called Storybrooke, where they still find adventures, danger and loss and love. The scripture that goes with the theme was taken from 1 John 4:10, “not that we once upon a time loved God but that he loved us and sent his son.” As Women’s Day was and is still being celebrated across all the International Christian Churches. The Hilo International Christian Church celebrated their Women’s Day March 12, 2016 at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo, where many women attended as well as the awesome brothers who donated their time and hearts to serve and usher to run the event smoothly. During the event our host Mel Bartholomew did an amazing job MCing and coordinating the event, then shared a video from the LA church that featured a powerful message from current disciples who were lost and then found God. The video was followed by four testimonies shared by our very own sisters, Savannah and Mahe Directo, Maile Paschall and Linda Robinson’s who shared their hearts and adventures before they knew God and their happy ending that they found while seeking God. The testimonies were followed by an amazing solo by Savannah who sang “one call away” and a powerful sharing by our guest speaker April Baker. The event ended with a lovely hula performed by our hula ministry and gift giving to April to show their appreciation of her heart to come to Hilo. The event ended with an amazing fellowship, hearts seeking after God and openness
